Meadow

In production

2019-present · Color No. 344

Introducing Meadow, made by The Fiesta Tableware Company from 2019 to current production. It's a serene and refreshing shade of green, reminiscent of the lush meadows of springtime. Meadow adds a touch of natural elegance and tranquility to any tablescape. Mix and match Meadow with colors like Ivory and Daffodil for a fresh and calming table setting, or pair it with Plum and Poppy for a more vibrant and dynamic combination.

Notes on Meadow

Meadow arrived in 2019 and is still in production. It's a soft, mid-depth green with a slightly grayish cast - considerably lighter than the Sage it replaced. The interesting thing about it is what it's close to: Medium Green, the famously scarce vintage color from 1959, sits only about ΔE 7 away. That makes Meadow the most practical modern stand-in for the single hardest vintage color to find, which is worth knowing if you're building a vintage-look table and would rather not pay vintage-Medium-Green prices.

Using Meadow on a table

Meadow has enough color to be noticed without taking over, which makes it a good second or third piece - a salad plate or a serving bowl rather than the whole setting. Its mid lightness (L* 57) means most food reads against it without either washing out or vanishing. It nearly disappears against a white cloth (3.5:1), so it shows best on dark wood or a colored runner.

Below, 5 combinations built only from colors Fiesta has actually produced. Each says which rule it follows, and which pieces you can still buy today.

Where Meadow sits in the line

Meadow took over from Sage as Fiesta's green, and is noticeably lighter than it - a complete change of direction rather than a reformulation (ΔE 25.2). What else happened at the company in 2019 →

Ranked by CIEDE2000 (ΔE) against Meadow. Under about ΔE 5 two colors are hard to tell apart side by side - useful when you are identifying an unmarked piece.
