Sky arrived in 2024 and is still in production. It's a pale, soft blue with very little saturation - a quiet color, closer in behavior to a neutral than to Turquoise or Lapis. The swing from Twilight, the near-navy it overlapped, is the largest jump the blue family has ever made: about ΔE 71. It arrived in a big year of change, with Lemongrass, Mulberry and Butterscotch all retiring at once. Because it carries so little color, it will sit next to almost anything, which makes it one of the easier current colors to add to an existing collection.
Using Sky on a table
Sky is soft enough to sit beside almost anything. It works as a bridge between two stronger colors that would otherwise argue. At L* 84 it is one of the paler glazes in the line: dark food reads sharply against it, pale food much less so. It nearly disappears against a white cloth (1.5:1), so it shows best on dark wood or a colored runner.
